Cheval Blanc was awarded the highest grade available in the inaugural classification of Saint-Emilion wines in 1954: Premier Grand Cru Classé “A.” This exalted position was confirmed in every subsequent classification over the succeeding decade. The 6,000-square-meter cellar houses a state-of-the-art winemaking operation where man guides technology, not the other way around. Human hands are superior to machines.
